Bitter Gourd is known as Pavakkai in Tamil. It can be used in various recipes. Today, we are going to see easy method of cooking bitter gourd. This is not a favourite vegetable for many of us but I am sure this simple fry will make everyone to add bitter gourd in their diet. This is the best way to add bitter gourd in kids’ meal. Let’s take a look at the recipe now.

Bitter Gourd Fry/Pavakkai Fry

Ingredients

  • Bitter Gourd – 5 (medium size)
  • Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric – ½ tsp
  • Oil
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  1. First wash the bitter gourd, slit and remove the seeds from inside and cut them into small slices.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil then add sliced bitter gourd.
  3. Keep the heat in medium to avoid burning.
  4. Keep sautéing the bitter gourd in oil for 5 to 6 mins.
  5. Now add Chilli powder, turmeric and salt.
  6. Cook until it becomes nice and crispy.
  7. Serve with sambar rice, curd rice or any variety rice.
